Katie, a Delaware native, graduated in 2004 from Northeastern University with degrees in History and Environmental Science. Immediately after, Katie attended law school at Syracuse University, where she earned her J.D. as well as a master’s degree in History. During law school, Katie clerked for the Delaware Family Court in New Castle and Sussex County. Before joining Scott and Shuman, Katie worked for the Delaware Department of Justice prosecuting felony and misdemeanor cases, as well as for the Delaware Department of Education advising State boards and drafting regulations and policies. She’s worked as an attorney for ten years, is admitted to the Delaware Bar, and is a member of the Delaware Bar Association and the Sussex County Bar Association. Katie has argued before the Justice of the Peace Court, Family Court, the Court of Common Pleas, the Superior Court, and the Court of Chancery. At Scott and Shuman, Katie primarily focuses her practice on real estate transactions, estate planning, estate administration, business formation, and landlord tenant law. In her free time, Katie enjoys going to the beach, travelling, and playing with her dog, Lady.
